just now posted this, but it identified me as number, so it's not readable, so I'm going to have to do it again. Someone was telling me about dsl lite, which he got from bellsouth before he upgraded to dsl ultra. I was looking on bellsouths website, and most of its confusing, so we're going to call them on monday and see what the deal is. according to their website, you can get dsl lite for as low as $24.95 a month, with their combined unlimited plan, but then they had a base price, that said 34 dollars a month, and we won't switch for 34 dollars a month. You can get up to 256 kbps connection speed, which sounds betterthan 28.8 kbps, or 31.200 kbps, which is what I usually get. It sounds really hard, like there is a lot to it, and it might involve a lot switching from one isp to another. Is anyone with bellsouth, and does anyone have dsl lite? Thanks,

I don't have this Belsouth, but those statistics sound fairly good to me, judging by the ISP I have. But I don't know much about this. I think the best thing to do is call them, which is what your'd doing! Heheh so good luck!

Thanks Caitlin, that's what we're going to do tomorrow. I'm sure they're will be a lot of things involved, like whether I'm close enough to the main office, the position of the phone lines, whether it's available in my area. I think there may be a lot involved too in changing isps.

I'm a dial up user. I can't afford DSL.

Hi WW, I hope everything works out, be sure to post here with what you learned! Hehehe. Just curious how it'll work out. And BlindVi, I had dialup for awhile and I didn't find it half bad, I mean, it was kinda slow sometimes but it was okay. Lol.

well I've been on dial up for 6 and a half years, my entire time on the internet, and I haven't minded it, it not good for sending and receiving files and songs back and forth, but that has never really interested me much anyway, I prefer conversational e-mails. Some people want to send stuff all the time, and when you get tired of it, you can use dial up as an excuse, and say to people, No, I'm on dial up, takes too long. Well, I'm sure 256 k would get me on the zones' voice chat server. Then I can explore and find a good safe haven room, if everything works out.

I hope so too, but the more I think about it, the more unlikely it seems, but it would be nice. I was wondering if we talked on audio tips, or our place before. I go by terry 12 on audio tips, when I go there, and I did go by terry on acbradio's our place, but it didn't object to my putting in wonderwoman, so I used that, but I don't go in our place anymore, there are only 4 room, and the speakeasy room was always too crowded. But yes, we could go in one of the safe haven rooms. somehow I feel those rooms are very quiet, haha. Well, we'll have to see what bellsouth says.

Hi Wonderwoman, Yeah, we coudl go on a private room on Audio-Tips sometime, maybe. Oh wait, oh my gosh, I jsut remembered, I think I talke to a Terry, and I remember her saying something about soft bone disease! I seriously just remembered this. It was a long time ago, I remember it was during the summer and we were having a barbecue! But I don't remember how the voice sounded at all, but it could have been yours, I just can't recall the voice at all. How funny! So I guess we did talk once! How cool!!! Whoa! Anyway I'm Caitlin45 on Audio-Tips, and I go on Our Place once in a boue moon, I used to go on a ton too! But now I don't because usually there's no one there.

Yeah I think I remember you, I'm pretty sure I do. These guys were talking about some techy stuff all their own, and we were both bored, so we started private texting with each other. I believe we were on our place once, and there was this guy in there who went for an hour without speaking to anyone, and when he finally did dane to speak, I remember you said, you're alive! lol. But if it did work out, and we could get dsl lite, then we could have our first conversation on the zones voice chat server. you'd be the first person I'd probably talk to.

as a matter of fact, since it would be my first time on the zones chat server, I'd want my first conversation to be with someone who I talk to a lot on the boards, rather than a total stranger, so you'd be the one I'd first look for as soon as I got it, and logged on to the server.

yes, it was really being able to type privately in text. I'm not sure you can do that on ventrilo. I've been on a few ventrilo servers which were set for broad band users, but before I went on the server, and went in a room, I didn't know if it was a broad band server or not. I always knew when I wasn't getting out too well, because if you're getting out, there is a little blep sound when you key and unkey the control key, but if you aren't making, the click isn't there. I have tried to text when I knew I wasn't getting out, but no one seemed to know I texted, whether it has to be set up for text chat, or whether or not they just didn't look for it or know it was there, I don't know, but texting didn't work for me either.

well, we called bellsouth this morning, and dsl is not available in our area right now, but the woman we talked to said it probably will be in march, and the dsl lite would be $24 a month, but for 2 computers in the same house, it's free for the first 3 months, then 5 dollars after that. And they don't put the modems in for you, you have todo that yourself, ouch. My mom and I aren't equipped to do anything like that. we'll have to see what develops when and if it becomes available in march.
